Rated Meticorten for Ulcerative Colitis Report

I’ve taken this drug twice in my life. The first time was for ulcerative colitis. It was did the job. It got rid of the inflammation quickly and the only side effects I had were insomnia and sweating. This time I’m taking it for a nerve issue and it’s awful. I have insomnia, sweating, anxiety, confusion, chills and horrible headaches. What’s so weird is that the first time I was on it for 4 months and this time just 5 days. By the 3rd day I was feeling the effects. The worst part is that it isn’t even working. I did also end up with osteoporosis after the first round but I’m uncertain if that was because of the Meticorten or not. The drug can be a godsend but the side effects for me are pretty bad. I wish my doctor would have also prescribed Xanax or Ativan so I could at least got through the anxiety. I am going to discontinue .

Rated Meticorten for Anti-inflammatory Report

I had to take Meticorten for 6 days. It was a short course. In that 6 days, I felt like pure sh*t. My anxiety was through the roof, I had no energy and I was very moody! I was just a mess. Now I have been off of it for 3 days and I’m not feeling any better at all. Really hope I never have to take this stuff again!!

Q: I am taking Meticorten for 8 days. I have begun having lower back spasms. Does this have anything to do with the Meticorten?

A: There is no mention of lower back spasms as a reported adverse effect of Meticorten (Deltasone). The closest mention was a side effect of muscle weakness. It is important to ask your health care provider about questions you have about possible side effects from your medications. Please talk with your health care provider regarding the lower back spasms for further guidance. Click here for additional information provided by Everyday Health regarding back pain. Q: I've been taking Meticorten for four days, and my blood pressure has dropped several points plus I am weak. Can Meticorten cause this?

A: Meticorten belongs to a class of drugs, called corticosteroids, that prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. Meticorten is used to treat many different conditions such as allergic disorders, skin conditions, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, or breathing disorders. Common side effects of Meticorten include insomnia, mood changes, acne, dry skin, thinning skin, bruising or discoloration, slow wound healing, increased sweating, headache, dizziness, nausea, stomach pain, bloating, and changes in the shape or location of body fat. These changes can be seen especially in your arms, legs, face, neck, breasts, and waist. Blood pressure changes can happen with Meticorten. However, it usually causes hypertension (high blood pressure) because it tends to cause the body to retain fluids. Please consult with your health care provider regarding the symptoms you are experiencing. You may also get more information by using the Everyday Health Symptom Checker. This is not a complete list of side effects that can occur with Meticorten. Your doctor or health care provider is best able to properly evaluate your medical condition and make recommendations based on your specific circumstances. For more specific information, consult with your doctor or local pharmacist for guidance based on your health status and current medications. Sarah Lewis, PharmD
