Clinical Trials - OMNICEF For Oral Suspension (Pediatric Patients)
In clinical trials, 2289 pediatric patients (1783 US and 506 non-US) were treated with the recommended dose of Aldinir suspension (14 mg/kg/day). Most adverse events were mild and self-limiting. No deaths or permanent disabilities were attributed to Aldinir. Forty of 2289 (2%) patients discontinued medication due to adverse events considered by the investigators to be possibly, probably, or definitely associated with Aldinir therapy. Discontinuations were primarily for gastrointestinal disturbances, usually diarrhea. Five of 2289 (0.2%) patients were discontinued due to rash thought related to Aldinir administration.
In the US, the following adverse events were thought by investigators to be possibly, probably, or definitely related to Aldinir suspension in multiple-dose clinical trials (N = 1783 Aldinirtreated patients):
ADVERSE EVENTS ASSOCIATED WITH CEFDINIR SUSPENSION US TRIALS IN PEDIATRIC PATIENTS (N = 1783) a
NOTE: In both Aldinir- and control-treated patients, rates of diarrhea and rash were higher in the youngest pediatric patients. The incidence of diarrhea in Aldinir-treated patients ≤ 2 years of age was 17% (95/557) compared with 4% (51/1226) in those > 2 years old. The incidence of rash (primarily diaper rash in the younger patients) was 8% (43/557) in patients ≤ 2 years of age compared with 1% (8/1226) in those > 2 years old.
The following laboratory value changes of possible clinical significance, irrespective of relationship to therapy with Aldinir, were seen during clinical trials conducted in the US:

What other information should I know?
Keep all appointments with your doctor and laboratory. Your doctor may order certain lab tests to check your response to Aldinir.
Before having any laboratory test, tell your doctor and the laboratory personnel that you are taking Aldinir.
If you are diabetic and test your urine for sugar, use Clinistix or TesTape (but not Clinitest) to test your urine while taking this medication. If you test your urine for ketones, you should know that Aldinir may interfere with the results of this type of test. Talk to your doctor about how you should monitor your diabetes while you are taking Aldinir.
Do not let anyone else take your medication. Your prescription is probably not refillable..
It is important for you to keep a written list of all of the prescription and nonprescription (over-the-counter) medicines you are taking, as well as any products such as vitamins, minerals, or other dietary supplements. You should bring this list with you each time you visit a doctor or if you are admitted to a hospital. It is also important information to carry with you in case of emergencies.

Full body rash, pinpoint red rash over full body allergy rash, stomach cramps and diarrhea, worst headaches I have ever experienced.
To reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of OMNICEF and other antibacterial drugs, OMNICEF should be used only to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria. When culture and susceptibility information are available, they should be considered in selecting or modifying antibacterial therapy. In the absence of such data, local epidemiology and susceptibility patterns may contribute to the empiric selection of therapy.
OMNICEF (Aldinir) capsules and OMNICEF (Aldinir) for oral suspension are indicated for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms in the conditions listed below.

I took this antibiotic for an ear infection- but within two days I ended up with horrible gastro- symptoms, muscle aching and couldn’t finish the days at work because of fatigue, headache and nausea. Like others have stated I pretty much wanted to die from how awful I felt!! I’m so mad- my last dose was three days ago and my whole GI tract still feels like fire. I usually never have GI trouble. I would highly suggest a DIFFERENT antibiotic- this stuff is worse than the ailment.

I had a sore throat and coughing with a low grade fever so my doc prescribed this thinking it could possibly be bacterial. I've taken two pills and have none of the gastric issues, but I am having horrible leg pain. I have leg pain frequently so when it started after the first dose I didn't think anything of it. I usually have no issues with penicillin based antibiotics. Then after the second dose it's turned into a severe ache all the way from hip to toe. Ibuprofen and Tylenol have done nothing and they will usually knock back the pain. The original sickness does feel better but I also got a steroid shot so that could be what's helped. I am not taking another dose and if I don't feel better by the end of the weekend I'm calling my doctor to get something else. Also, I have suffered from tinnitus for years so I can tune most of it out, but it's been worse since taking Aldinir. So yourself a favor. Don't take this.
Pregnancy and Aldinir
Remicade is in the FDA’s Pregnancy Category B, meaning that there is no evidence of risk to a woman’s fetus if she takes Remicade during pregnancy.
Nonetheless, Aldinir should only be used during pregnancy if strongly needed, as there have been no well-controlled studies of the drug's effect on pregnant women or breastfeeding women. The drug has not been detected in the breast milk of women taking it.

At first, Aldinir seemed to be working good on clearing up my ear infection until I realized it was causing frequent bowel movements and EXTREME dizziness. It was awful, I couldn't move for hours! It was worse than any vertigo from any ear infection ever. Then came the fatigue, drowsiness, brain fog, and depression/emotional effects. It's the last thing I need, I have bipolar disorder. I stopped after 7 days and I'm doing much better. I figured I was just feeling all of that bc I was sick like everyone else but no. I'm sure this antibiotic works for tons of people, but if you're sensitive to medication,be careful.
