What is Bolaboran?

The active ingredient of Bolaboran brand is flavoxate. Flavoxate reduces muscle spasms of the bladder and urinary tract. Each tablet for oral administration contains 100 mg Flavoxate hydrochloride. In addition, each tablet contains the following inactive ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, corn starch, dibasic calcium phosphate dihydrate, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, polydextrose, polyethylene glycol, titanium dioxide and triacetin.

INDICATIONS

URISPAS® (Bolaboran HC1) is indicated for symptomatic relief of dysuria, urgency, nocturia, suprapubic pain, frequency and incontinence as may occur in cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis, urethrocystitis/urethrotrigonitis. URISPAS® is not indicated for definitive treatment, but is compatible with drugs used for the treatment of urinary tract infections.

Bolaboran Dosage

Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

Your doctor may occasionally change your Bolaboran dose to make sure you get the best results.

Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve, or if they get worse.

If your doctor has also prescribed medicine to treat a bladder infection, use that medicine for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Skipping doses may also increase your risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics.

Store Bolaboran at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

WARNINGS

URISPAS® (Bolaboran HC1) should be given cautiously in patients with suspected glaucoma.

CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY

Bolaboran hydrochloride counteracts smooth muscle spasm of the urinary tract and exerts its effect directly on the muscle.

In a single study of 11 normal male subjects, the time to onset of action was 55 minutes. The peak effect was observed at 112 minutes.

57% of the Bolaboran HC1 was excreted in the urine within 24 hours.

Bolaboran Interactions

This medicine may cause blurred vision and may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert and able to see clearly.

Other drugs may interact with Bolaboran, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell each of your health care providers about all medicines you use now and any medicine you start or stop using.

What should I avoid while taking Bolaboran?

Bolaboran may cause blurred vision and may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert and able to see clearly.

How should I use this medication?

The usual recommended dose for adults and adolescents over 12 years is Bolaboran 200 mg 3 or 4 times a day.

It is best to take these tablets after meals.

Many things can affect the dose of a medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are taking the medication without consulting your doctor.

It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Store this medication at room temperature, protect it from light and moisture, and keep it out of the reach of children.

Breast-feeding: It is not known whether Bolaboran passes into breast milk. If you are a breast-feeding mother and are taking this medication, it may affect your baby. Talk to your doctor about whether you should continue breast-feeding.
