I started this with one pill (7.5 mg) and did not get relief. Then I upped to two a day and wow! No more pain in my hips! I love this and got off Celecoxib to use these with no side effects. I have arthritis in my hips and they work well for me! I would recommend trying this if you have pain from arthritis!

Arthrobic Interactions

Provide a detailed list of all your medications to your doctor, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, along with vitamins and herbal supplements.

Arthrobic may increase the blood levels of lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid) by reducing the excretion of the drug by the kidneys. These increased levels could lead to lithium toxicity.

Arthrobic may reduce the effectiveness of blood pressure-lowering drugs.

If you combine Arthrobic with methotrexate (Rheumatrex, Trexall) or aminoglycosides like gentamicin (Garamycin), your blood levels of the methotrexate or aminoglycoside may increase, leading to more methotrexate or aminoglycoside-related side effects.

Arthrobic increases the negative effect of cyclosporine on kidney function, while reducing the impact of furosemide (Lasix) and thiazide diuretics.

In addition, if you are taking oral blood thinners such as aspirin, warfarin (Coumadin), or clopidogrel (Plavix), you should avoid Arthrobic because it also thins the blood. Excessive blood thinning could lead to bleeding.

Also, taking corticosteroids such as prednisone can also increase your bleeding risk.

Those with a history of asthma attacks, hives, or other allergic reactions to aspirin and other NSAIDS should avoid taking Arthrobic.

If you take aspirin with this medicine, there could be an increased risk of developing a gastrointestinal ulcer, and Arthrobic may reduce the effectiveness of aspirin.

People may increase their risk of getting stomach ulcers if they have more than three alcoholic beverages a day while using Arthrobic or other NSAIDS.

Arthrobic may not work as well if you use cholestyramine (Questran), colestipol (Colestid) and colesevelam (Welchol), since these drugs prevent its absorption from the intestines.

Finally, Arthrobic contains sorbitol, and combining sodium polystyrene sulfonate (Kayexalate) with sorbitol may cause fatal intestinal necrosis.

Therefore, it's extremely important that you do not combine this medicine with Kayexalate .

It really works! So much better than taking 800 mg ibuprofen daily!

Q: Does Arthrobic interact with any of the 'statin' drugs?

A: According to the package insert, studies have not shown a drug interaction between Arthrobic (Mobic) and the 'statin' drugs, such as Zocor (simvastatin), Lescol (fluvastatin) and Crestor (rosuvastatin). However, it is important to note that both drugs can cause liver problems and patients should be aware of the signs and symptoms of liver damage, which include nausea, fatigue, lethargy, itchy skin, jaundice or yellowing of the eyes or skin, abdominal pain on the right side, and "flu-like" symptoms. If any of these occur, please seek medical care immediately. For more information, please consult with your healthcare practitioner. Michelle McDermott, PharmD

Arthrobic Side Effects

As with any other drug, Arthrobic has side effects. What sets it apart is that it is a high-dose NSAID, and it can cause significant issues in patients who have heart and gastrointestinal conditions. Some patients are allergic to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in general, so taking Arthrobic will exacerbate negative reactions, such as being short of breath. As a result of this, people with asthma will be at a higher risk for triggering their allergies if they take Arthrobic or any other NSAID.

Patients may also experience hypertension (high blood pressure or an increase thereof) if they have certain health conditions while they take Arthrobic, and they might also experience fluid retention and swelling. Patients at risk for heart failure should take Arthrobic very carefully, and never without a physician’s approval and supervision.

Rated Arthrobic for Osteoarthritis Report

Began taking 7.5 mg/day, but no help with symptoms/pain. Rx written to take 1 or 2 per day, so I began taking 2 per day. After about 2 weeks of taking the 2 per day dosage with no issues, the past 3 days I began having moderate and constant heartburn, feeling nauseous, a "knot" feeling in my stomach, and increased belching. I stopped taking the Mobic when the symptoms began and began a bland diet. No relief yet. Waiting for PCP recommendation about symptoms. Glad it helps some people, but this is not a good choice for me.
