What is Enaprex?

The active ingredient of Enaprex brand is enalapril. Enalapril is an ACE inhibitor. ACE stands for angiotensin converting enzyme. C20H28N2O5в€™C4H4O4 M.W. 492.53 Enalapril maleate, USP is an off-white, crystalline powder. It is sparingly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, and freely soluble in methanol. Enalapril is a pro-drug; following oral administration, it is bioactivated by hydrolysis of the ethyl ester to enalaprilat, which is the active angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor. Enalapril maleate tablets USP are supplied as 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg tablets for oral administration. In addition, each tablet contains the following inactive ingredients: corn starch, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, pregelatinized starch, and sodium bicarbonate. Each 2.5 mg tablet contains D&C red #27 aluminum lake, D&C yellow #10 aluminum lake, FD&C blue #1 aluminum lake, FD&C red #40 aluminum lake, and FD&C yellow #6 aluminum lake. Each 10 mg tablet contains FD&C blue #2 aluminum lake, FD&C red #40 aluminum lake and FD&C yellow #6 aluminum lake. Each 20 mg tablet contains FD&C Yellow #6.

Enaprex is used to treat diseases such as: Alport Syndrome, Diabetic Kidney Disease, Heart Failure, High Blood Pressure, Hypertensive Emergency, Left Ventricular Dysfunction.

Side Effect

Possible side effects of Enaprex include: difficult or labored breathing; nausea; dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position; Blurred vision; unusual tiredness or weakness.

  • Enaprex lowers your blood pressure and makes it easier for your heart to pump blood around your body.
  • Your first dose of Enaprex may make you feel dizzy, so it's best to take it at bedtime. After that, if you don't feel dizzy, you can take it at any time of day.
  • Some people get a dry, irritating cough with Enaprex.
  • If you get severe diarrhoea or vomiting from a stomach bug or illness, tell your doctor. You may need to stop taking Enaprex for a while until you feel better.
  • Drinking alcohol with Enaprex can make you feel dizzy or light-eaded.
  • Enaprex is also called by the brand name Innovace. When it's mixed with hydrochlorothiazide, its brand name is Innozide.

What if I get ill while I'm taking it?

If you get severe diarrhoea or vomiting for any reason, stop taking Enaprex. When you're able to eat and drink normally, wait for 24 to 48 hours, then start to take it again.
