Dosage & Usage

Augmoks is an antibiotic in the team of penicillins that protects against the microorganisms from building protective wall surfaces, that means ensure they can not endure in the physical body. Augmoks is readily available as pills, dental suspension and chewable tablet computers. You should understand how you can take each type of this medication properly to reward the most from it. Augmoks might communicate with other medicines you are making use of, such as probenecid, specific blood slimmers and various other antibiotics, especially tetracycline anti-biotics. To stay away from communications, you need to just incorporate Augmoks with other medicines if you reviewed it with your physician or pharmacist.

More common side effects

The more common side effects of Augmoks oral tablet can include:

If these side effects are mild, they may go away within a few days or a couple of weeks. If they’re more severe or don’t go away, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

How to use Augmoks

Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually every 8 or 12 hours. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.

Drink plenty of fluids while using this medication unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

For the best effect, take this antibiotic at evenly spaced times. To help you remember, take this medication at the same time(s) every day.

Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a return of the infection.

Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.

Pregnancy Category B. Reproduction studies have been performed in mice and rats at doses up to 2000 mg/kg (3 and 6 times the 3 g human dose, based on body surface area). There was no evidence of harm to the fetus due to Augmoks. There are, however, no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Because animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of human response, Augmoks should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.

Getting the most from your treatment

  • If you (or your child) have been prescribed the oral liquid medicine, you may find that it causes some staining of the teeth. Brushing the teeth regularly helps to prevent this. Any staining usually disappears soon after the course of antibiotics is finished.
  • Even if you feel your infection has cleared up, keep taking the antibiotic until the course is finished (unless a doctor tells you to stop). This is to prevent the infection from coming back.
  • Antibiotics are prescribed in short courses of treatment. Your doctor will tell you how long your course of treatment will last - this is not usually for longer than 14 days. If you still feel unwell after finishing the course, go back to see your doctor.
  • Some people develop redness and itching in the mouth or vagina (thrush) after taking a course of antibiotics. If this happens to you, speak with your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
  • If you are taking the contraceptive 'pill' at the same time as this antibiotic, the effectiveness of the 'pill' can be reduced if you have a bout of being sick (vomiting) or diarrhoea which lasts for more than 24 hours. If this should happen, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice about what additional contraceptive precautions to use over the following few days. There is no need to use additional precautions for any bouts of sickness or diarrhoea which last for less than 24 hours.
  • Augmoks can stop the oral typhoid vaccine from working. If you are due to have any vaccinations, make sure the person treating you knows that you are taking this antibiotic.

Q: I've been trying to get pregnant. I just got off the shot and am taking Augmoks for my toothache. Does it increase my chance of getting pregnant?

A: There exists no clinical data or evidence that Augmoks can increase the chance of pregnancy. //www.everydayhealth.com/drugs/Augmoks. Lori Mendoza, PharmD

Dosing In Neonates And Infants Aged ≤ 12 Weeks ( ≤ 3 Months)

Treatment should be continued for a minimum of 48 to 72 hours beyond the time that the patient becomes asymptomatic or evidence of bacterial eradication has been obtained. It is recommended that there be at least 10 days' treatment for any infection caused by Streptococcus pyogenes to prevent the occurrence of acute rheumatic fever. Due to incompletely developed renal function affecting elimination of Augmoks in this age group, the recommended upper dose of AMOXIL is 30 mg/kg/day divided every 12 hours. There are currently no dosing recommendations for pediatric patients with impaired renal function.

COMMON BRAND(S): Amoxil

GENERIC NAME(S): Augmoks

Augmoks is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. This medication is a penicillin-type antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections.

Augmoks is also used with other medications to treat stomach/intestinal ulcers caused by the bacteria H. pylori and to prevent the ulcers from returning.
