What is Amosepacin?

The active ingredient of Amosepacin brand is amoxicillin. Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic that fights bacteria. The Amoxicillin molecular formula is C16H19N3O5S•3H2O, and the molecular weight is 419.45. Capsules of Amoxicillin are intended for oral administration. Each capsule of Amoxicillin with blue cap and pink body, contains 250 mg or 500 mg Amoxicillin as the trihydrate. The body of the 250 mg capsule is imprinted with ‘A44’ in black ink. The body of the 500 mg capsule is imprinted with ‘A45’ in black ink. Inactive ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, D&C Red No. 28, FD&C Blue No. 1, FD&C Red No. 40, gelatin, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide, and sodium lauryl sulfate. Meets USP Dissolution Test 2.

How to take it

Swallow Amosepacin capsules whole with a drink of water. Do not chew or break them.

Amosepacin is available as a liquid for children and people who find it difficult to swallow tablets.

If you or your child are taking Amosepacin as a liquid, it will usually be made up for you by your pharmacist. The medicine will come with a plastic syringe or spoon to help you measure out the right dose.

Less common side effects include:

  • allergic reactions like itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
  • breathing problems
  • blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth
  • dizziness
  • trouble sleeping
  • seizures
  • trouble passing urine, dark urine, or a decrease in the quantity of urine
  • unusually weak or tired

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to Amosepacin: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

diarrhea that is watery or bloody;

black, swollen or "hairy" tongue;

fever, swollen gums, painful mouth sores, pain when swallowing, skin sores, cold or flu symptoms, cough, trouble breathing;

swollen glands, rash or itching, joint pain, or general ill feeling;

pale or yellowed skin, yellowing of the eyes, dark colored urine, fever, confusion or weakness;

severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness;

easy bruising, unusual bleeding (nose, mouth, vagina, or rectum), purple or red pinpoint spots under your skin; or

severe skin reaction--fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain, followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling.

Storage

  • Amosepacin capsules as well as the 125 and 250 mg dry powders should b e stored at or below 20 C (68 F).
  • Chewable tablets as well as 200 and 400 mg dry powders should be stored at or below 25 C(77 F).
  • Trimox capsules and unreconstituted powder should be stored at or below 20 C (68 F), and chewable tablets should be stored at room temperature 15 C to 30 C (59 F to 86 F).
  • Powder that has been mixed with water should be discarded after 14 days. Refrigeration is preferred but not required for powder mixed with water.
